And so another year came to its end. It was different for everyone: someone have reached what he desired, someone have faced the loss. This year has been fruitful for me personally: it brought me many interesting acquaintances, productive projects, new prospects for cooperation. Latvia and Ukraine once again have shown the reliability of partnership, demonstrated its support.
The pupils of Chernihiv Center of Psychosocial Rehabilitation for children have received the gifts from Saeima deputies.
On December 25, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia have received the gifts for Chernihiv Center of Psychosocial Rehabilitation for children prepared by Saeima deputies. The initiator of the action was the Chairman of the parliamentary group on interparliamentary relations with Ukraine, Ainars Mezhulis.
November 18th is celebrated as the Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia.
On this day of celebration the red flags with the red and white outfit are publicly posted and lots of festivities are being held in Latvia
Raimonds Vejonis the President of Latvia visited Ukraine
Within the working visit of the President of the Republic of Latvia, a meeting between Latvian parliamentarians and members of the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian Parliament), together with representatives of Ukrainian business, took place on October 27, 2015 in Kiev. The initiator of the event was the Latvia-Ukraine inter-parliamentary group of friendship, in particular, Oleksandr Kodola, the head of the group. Olena Vyshniakova, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia, facilitated the organization and running of the event in the Oazis concert-hall.
On October 24th a group of children whose fathers died in the ATO on the East of Ukraine will visit Latvian city Ogre during autumn holidays. the group will consist of 15 children and 5 adults to accompany their trip to Latvia. The group will be headed by Tetiana Kuznetsova-Molodcha, the Director of the City Centre of Social Services for Children, Youth and Family.
On September 29, 2015 the Members of the municipal council, district authority of Valka city and representatives of Euregio Pskov-Livonia non-governmental organisation visited Chernihiv city for contacts establishing with local governments.
During the visit, the delegation has visited the Honorary Consulate of Latvia in Chernihiv and Chernihiv region, where there was a meeting with the Honorary Consul of Latvia Elena Vyshniakova. During the meeting , the choosing of the sister-town among Chernihiv region and the further development of relations have been discussed.

Today an exhibition of Vira Shevchenko art works and Overground-K group is taking place in cultural and educational center LatviArt.
Olena Vyshniakova, the Honorary Consul, and Vira Shevchenko, psychologist and artist, got to know each other when the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia facilitated sending Ukrainian psychologists on rehabilitation and recreation to Latvia. By the way, from that tour the artist got an inspiration for creating several woks exhibited.
Latvian city Ogre :"Ukraine, we support you!"
For several years Latvian city Ogre is a sister city for Ukrainian city Chernihiv. Latvian community deeply sympathizes with Ukraine and demonstrates all-round support to Ukrainians. Once joined to the Soviet Union by force, the Latvians know what it means to fight for their own independence.

On the occasion of the 150th birthday anniversary of Latvian playwright and poet Janis Rainis, under the patronage of the Honorary Consul of Latvia in Chernihiv Olena Vyshniakova, his most famous performance "Blow the wind!" was brought to Chernihiv.
