Visit of travel business and mass media representatives of the Republic of Latvia to Chernihiv

From the 16th to the 19th of September the four-day informative and presentation tour around the city and Chernihiv region was held for the representatives of the travel business and mass media of the Republic of Latvia.

Upon the initiative and with the support of the Honorary Consul Olena Vyshniakova, the delegation of Latvian businessmen and officials visited Chernihiv.

According to the tour program there were meetings with the Heads of Chernihiv Regional State Administration and Chernihiv City Council. The city mayor Alexander Sokolov admitted that the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Latvia in Chernihiv significantly improved dynamic cooperation with Latvian partners.

Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Nationalities and Religions in Chernihiv Regional State Administration, Liudmyla Zamay told about the tourism potential and opportunities in the city of Chernihiv.

A city tour for Latvian delegation was organized as well including a visit to museums, exploring tour routes, and the guests were invited to the show "Blow the wind!" by Janis Rainis. Thanks to the Honorary Consul of Latvia Olena Vyshniakova citizens of Chernihiv and guests had the opportunity to see one of the most popular performances in Latvia performed by Lviv National Academic Ukrainian Drama Theater after Maria Zankovetska.

In honor of guests’ arrival the Cultural Center at the Honorary Consulate LatviArt (Latvia Art) opened the exhibition "Landmarks of Latvia" for free.

As mentioned Olena Vyshniakova in her interview, Latvia has very positive attitude to Ukraine and strongly supports the Ukrainians. Such presentation tours are very important for relations between the countries and the development of new cooperation vectors, including tourism and cultural exchange programs.

"Our message to the Latvians is that Chernihiv and Chernihiv region welcomes everybody. It is safe, interesting and perspective, "- the Honorary Consul emphasized.
