Latvia will contribute to the economic development of Chernihiv
On March 2nd, 2015 in association with Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia in Ukraine Olena Vyshniakova, officials and business representatives of the Republic of Latvia has hold the official meeting with head of Chernihiv Regional Council and President of Chernihiv Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Latvian delegation was represented by Ainars Mezulis Member of the Saeima, Chairman of the deputy group for interparliamentary relations with Ukraine, Secretary of the Committee of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Uldis Kristapsons - Chairman of the Duma of Pavilosta Municipality, Alfreds Magone - CTO of the Duma of Pavilosta Municipality, Vizma Gegere - Project Manager of the Duma of Pavilosta Municipality, Brukle Arita - Head of the Tourist Center of Pavilosta Municipality, Marita Kucanova - specialist of public relations of the Duma of Pavilotsta Municipality, Andis Skrapcis - CEO of SIA "LAM", Janis Erglis - Head of "ZE projects".
Latvian delegation had working meeting with the head of Chernihiv Regional Council Nikolai Zverev. During the meeting parties discussed possibility of economic and cultural cooperation between regions, joint projects in the agricultural, industrial and food industries. Chairman of the Regional Council assured delegates with support of Chernihiv officials to the mentioned projects and the importance of attracting foreign investors to cooperate with Ukraine in this difficult time for the country.
During the visit, representatives of the Republic of Latvia visited leading companies of Chernihiv region, including grain export company “JNL”, manufacturer of equipment for the production of packaging “PET Technologies Ukraine”, Food Company “Yasen” and a manufacturer of furniture and textiles company -“Veres”. Businessmen were able to discuss the possibility of joint projects and the development of bilateral relations between Ukrainian and Latvian business.
During the meeting with Konstantin Ivanov President of Chernihiv Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Latvian officials outlined the major problems that emerge in the development of joint projects and pledged their willingness to cooperate with the Chernihiv region.
On the initiative of HC of the Republic of Latvia in Ukraine Mrs. Vyshniakova in the end of the visit the Latvian delegation visited the village Koryukivka, where a famous memorial of mass civilian victims of the Second World War is situated. During the speech, HC Olena Vyshniakova talked about the need of support of European partners to Ukraine, in particular the Republic of Latvia. This cooperation would be the fastest solution for Ukraine economic and political problems.
